Timeless Photographs

Images Of Quality That Defy Time

PORTABLE STUDIO and PHOTO SESSIONS . . .

In any photograph of quality and standing, the most important single component is lighting.

Photographically, since it forms the backdrop and ambience, the location of the shoot will most often be the next most important consideration, followed by the style of personal dress and attire worn at the time of the shoot, although some people may value location more than anything else, especially in the case of the most special of locations! Having said that, very often people will feel that dress and attire are most important, and that location follows.

Nevertheless, the location and its choice have the most influence, ultimately playing a strong influencing roll in the most important factor: lighting. Other stylistic and technical considerations also play a decisive role in the success of the end result, whether it be in individual portraits, group portraits, weddings, or images conveying style and fashion.

It is because of this overriding importance of 'lighting' and its closely related sister, 'location', that I am equipped with all the paraphernalia associated with a photographic studio, including lighting, lighting modifiers, and backgrounds, but in as reasonably portable a form as possible.

The photographs in the first pages of this site show examples of most of the types of location shoots, including outdoors, and in the home environment.

In order to set up an indoor shoot in your home, space is needed for background, backdrop, props, camera station. The more space the better, but improvisation is also possible, especially if furniture can be eased aside for the duration. An empty double garage can also provide a most usable space if clear of obstruction.
Outdoor shoots require suitable weather as well as a suitable place. A good, or 'nice', sheltered outdoor space could be wonderful even if the weather was also wet: the message being that it is possible for weather not to stop an outdoor shoot, even if it does make the shoot more difficult!
